About
Café Avenue Coffees™ is pleased to offer Minas City Roast, a single estate coffee from the Brauna plantation which is owned and operated by the Mattos family of Ervalia, Minas Gerais state, Brazil. As members of the elite Brazil Specialty Coffee Association (BSCA), the Mattos family strictly controls the quality of the coffee and faithfully records the origin of all lots which allows for on-line traceability. Minas City Roast is a blend of Brauna plantation Arabica cultivars which are predominately catuai', catucai', and mundo novo, and is processed in the pulped natural style. All packages have a valve to retain freshness and an expiration date for consumer protection and confidence. In the future Café Avenue Coffees™ plans to offer exquisite coffees from other Latin American countries.
History
In 2008 three friends from a small Iowa city located on the banks of the Mississippi River founded the company that would later become Café Avenue Coffees™. Although all three graduated in the same class from Clinton High School each one took off on a very disparate career path. One would become a electrician and part-owner of a tanning salon, one would get a degree in economics and take over the family owned and operated butcher shop, and the third would travel the world in support of overseas CIA operations. Yes, that CIA. Exactly 30 years after high school the trio decided to form an umbrella company with emphasis on liquid refreshments. Future plans call for the establishment of a café and a co-located brewpub in the Lyons district of Clinton. The brewpub will be christened Slaughter Haus Brewery in honor of the butcher shop that once adorned the premises.
